Zoe-perry
Perry was born in Chicago to the actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. The role of Jackie Harris was played by her mother in each of her two appearances on Roseanne. Perry was forbidden to begin acting with her parents till adulthood, as they feared the anxiety it could cause. Perry says she didn't want to become an actor during high school, but she decided to begin performing as a form of social interaction during her time at Northwestern University when she switched to it from Boston University. After graduating Perry went to New York to search for jobs on television, landing small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent However, she was stricken by homelessness and brought the actress back to California which is where she discovered acting work. The Other Place was performed by her and her mom in 2013 on Broadway in 2013. In 2015 she performed alongside her father as well as Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning film Anna Christie at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. Perry was a part of nine episodes in 2016 of ABC's show The Family. In 2017, she played a supporting role in ABC's political thriller Scandal in which her father was the main character. She played the role of an older Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off episode that was part of the CBS show The Big Bang Theory was another younger portrayal of her mother. She was cast in the role in an audition that was open despite having a connection to the persona.
