Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actress. Also, she sings. As a child she was subjected to racial taunts by a lot of Americans. When she attended a 9th grade school audition, where she was praised for her voice as she built confidence. This not only increased her confidence, but it also changed the direction in which she went on to pursue her career. In the year 22 she received her degree from at the Julliard School of New York. In 1993, she had her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. The biggest accomplishment of her career occurred with her portrayal of The Lady Of The Lake in Spamalot's first Broadway production. She did not only win the Tony Award, but her performance was also highly praised by the critics. The following year she was made the lead character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. A well-known performer, she has also recorded a song and a play. As an activist, she works tirelessly to promote LGBT equality.
